OwnHome have started to use fully repurposed packaging in an attempt to reduce the staggering amount of waste that gets dumped, unused and unwanted. Almost 2.6 billion packages were sent in the UK in 2019 and 165 billion packages are shipped in the US each year, with the cardboard used roughly equating to more than 1 billion trees (that’sbillionwith a ‘b’).
What are we doing?
Every week OwnHome collect waste from various cafe's and restaurants along Sharrow Vale in Sheffield. We collect empty milk bottles, used citrus rinds and other containers. In addition to this we've re-purposed old amazon packages as our Christmas boxes. From this we'll be saving 1,000's of single-use packaging and cardboard going to landfills.
